Saturday, January 28th

Today is a sea day.  We wake up around 7:30 pm. and head up to the Promenade Deck for a walk.  OMG….the wind is like a tornado!  We walk around the deck and when we get to the front of the ship we have to climb stairs and continue onto the other side.  It is so incredibly windy at the front that we are walking in slow motion and my hat blows off twice!  We walk 3 miles (7.5 times around the ship).  The swells are about 5 feet right now and getting higher.  Say some prayers…..we have an Italian Captain….Did I mention that?  J
Up to breakfast…..we stop at the Belgian Waffle station…..yummy!  Time for some reading and catching up on emails, etc.  There is a special way to log in and out of the internet on the ship and apparently I did it wrong!  So, I used up all my minutes and had to go to the internet café and beg for more! Now I’m back!
When I was down there getting that straightened out the captain announced that we are going through the narrowest part of the Cook Strait.  It doesn’t look like much….just water and mountains!  I walked down to the guest services and signed up to do the “On Deck for the Cure” walk.  All proceeds go to Susan G. Koman so you know I had to do that one!  I got a cute hat too.  J
Mom and Dad enter the Blackjack Tournament and Dad qualified at the #1 spot for the finals.  We hang out in the casino waiting for the finals as Mike plays “Texas Hold ‘em” and wins about $400!  Dad goes out in the first couple of people on the Blackjack Tournament….oh well, maybe next time.
The sea is getting rougher now and it is affecting me something horrible.  I notice many “barf bags” around the ship (great!).  Our room is not the place to be so I take my iPad into the Library on the 5th floor and sit for about 2 hours.  Mike comes to get me after awhile and we head up to the room to change for dinner.  Most of the group decided to eat at the Steakhouse tonight but we go to the regular dining room and meet with the Kelly’s, the Stoughtenburgs, and Paul.  Not feeling very good, so Kay went to her room and brought me the wrist wraps that I wear for sea sickness.  Thank you Kay!  It just happens to be Chinese food night and after I have some broth and a couple pieces of cantaloupe I decide its not working for me with all of the smells in the dining room.  So, I leave and go up to our room.  I take some Ginger pills and drop onto the bed.  This is so weird for me since I never feel motion sick, ever.  I don’t like this feeling at all.  Most people like the rocking of the ship to go to sleep but tonight it isn’t rocking……it is slamming things around the room.  The weirdest feeling I’ve ever felt.  As the ship goes up, so does your body (you feel light) and then it comes crashing down and it jolts you.
Ok, enough reliving that for the moment.  J  This was one of the longest nights of my life.
